What is LinC Hornsby?
Operating since 1993, LinC Hornsby is a group of volunteers from 18 local Christian churches working together to help meet short term 'crisis' needs of people in our local community.
The main suburbs covered are: Hornsby, Asquith, Mt Colah, Berowra, Wahroonga, Turramurra, Normanhurst
and Thornleigh.
LinC Hornsby is operated by unpaid volunteers and expenses are funded by donations from churches, local organisations and some individuals. |

How do we operate?
Calls for help are received by phone in our LinC Referral Centre. A request could be for transport to a medical appointment, for example, or for a visit to help with some ironing or housework after a stay in hospital. A phone volunteer at the Centre assesses each request, taking into consideration urgency, locality and the availability of helpers. A suitable volunteer is identified and contacted. The client is then advised of the outcome. Arrangements are confirmed by the designated volunteer.
No fee is charged to clients for the services provided. |

Why is LinC needed?
Some needs in the community are unable to be met by existing agencies.
Caring people want to help, but often don't know how exactly.

People who are helped include:
- those confined to home
- the elderly and infirm
- the lonely
- people with disabilities
- single parents
...in fact almost anyone with short term
needs or difficulties. |
|
